Larkin, Philip: Collected poems

Great poetry; vicious, agressive, inventive, perceptive and unfortunately rather depressing. love it

Demory, Eric Hervieu: Facule de nacre

romantic poetry I bought at the Ganges flee market because browsing through it I was happy to be able to read most of it:

"UNE APRES JOUR
Lumiere... lumiere aide-moi
De tes bras de brilliance
Réchauffe un coeur en émoi;
Fait de vie, unde danse

Exalte un esprit, eluminures
Tournoie dans les chemins creux,
Les monts, la foret, et pure
Soit divine; rends-moi heureux!

Lumiere... lumiere pres de moi. "

Gary, Romain: La vie devant soi

A novel (in french!) about an "illegal" orphanage of children of prostitutes written from one of the childrens' point of view. It is moving and funny and I am damned proud to be able to read it in its original language! Thank you James B. for giving me this book, I'll definitelly will read more by Gary.

Defoe, Daniel: Robinson Crusoe

Terrific to revisit this oldie. It is still very much worth reading. Takes me back to my childhood but at the same time a find a lot more in it than just a boys adventure book. Beautifully written and rather elaborate observations.

Cope, Wendy: If I don’t know

poetry, light but lovely.
The Guardian writes: "Wendy Cope's poetry used to be required reading for anyone enduring an unsatisfactory romance or without a love life at all. "

Kundera, Milan: The Unbearable Lightness of Being

(1984)Never appealed to me when it was hyped about fifteen years ago. It is good, real good, but it also bothers me here and there, it is chilly and distant and I don't relate very much to the characters. Kunderas' philosophy is a bit naive here and there, some thoughts are milked others are just a scetch. I don;t regret having read it but on the other heand it won't stay with me either. What I liked was the voice of the author that pops in unexpectedly and in perfect doses, always legitimate and clarifying. that bit is done with the greatest perfection I have ever encountered.
